Boettcher Scholarship If you are a high achieving senior, please listen. The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship is now available for application. You must see your counselor and give him or her your e-mail address so you can be invited to apply. DO NOT WAIT!!! This is a very in depth process and you will need time to complete all the scholarship components. See your counselor immediately if you plan to apply.
Western State Colorado University Visit Juniors and Seniors- A representative from Western State in Gunnison will be here on Tuesday, October 2 at 1:00 to present information about their college. If you would like to attend, please log into Naviance and register. Please see your counselor if you have questions.
ACT Students-If you would like to take the next ACT on October 27, you need to register by September 28 at actstudent.org. The test is given at CSU-P and South High School.
CSU -Fort Collins Seniors and Juniors- The Representative from Colorado State University in Fort Collins will be here on Wednesday, October 10 at 3:00 to present information on their college. If you would like to attend this, please go to Naviance to register. The Visit is listed under Colorado State University. You MUST register on Naviance. Please see your counselor if you have questions.
Homecoming Guest Dance Passes Students: If you want to bring a date to the Homecoming Dance that is NOT a current student at PCHS, you MUST get a “guest dance pass” filled out, signed and returned to the main office by Thursday, Sept. 27th. Without a guest dance pass, you or your date will not be admitted into the dance. You can find them in the main office as you come in the door in the wire rack. Middle school students or anyone 21 or older are not allowed into the dance.
JUNIOR POWDERPUFF SHIRTS “Attention Junior Powderpuff Players, Cheerleaders, and Coaches! Junior Powderpuff Shirts are going to cost 8 dollars! You can turn your money in to Mr. Grossen room A124 by Thursday September 20th. If you don’t turn in your money for a shirt and your permission form: Then you CANNOT PLAY in Powderpuff!”
SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKES Picture Retakes will take place on Tuesday, September 25th. If you did not get your picture taken the first week of school, or would like your picture to be taken again, please stop by the office for a picture form.
STUDENT ID CARDS PCHS Student ID cards are in the front office for those who have not picked theirs’ up yet. Please see Mrs. Joanne.
TSA MEETING There will be a TSA General meeting on Thursday during homeroom in the auditorium. Please check in with your homeroom teacher and then go to the auditorium.
SOUTHERN COLORADO COLLEGE FAIR Students-There is a college fair being offered on Monday, October 1 at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs (1590 W. Fillmore St.). The Fair is FREE and open to all students and families in southern Colorado. You can meet with over 200 colleges from across the country. Colorado Youth Experience There will be a workshop for seniors at CSU-P this Friday from 8-5. It will focus on career exploration, college opportunities and resources. You must be a senior and register at coloradoyouthexperience.eventbrite.com. You must register by 10:00 on Thursday (Sept 20) for the opportunity to win prizes which includes college scholarships and “hi Tech” electronics.
PSAT 11 The PSAT 11 will be given to the first 90 juniors who sign up in the counseling office with Mrs. Stepan and pay the required $16 fee. This test is an excellent chance to practice taking an SAT formatted test and if you score well enough you may qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. (If you have a serious financial concern and the $16 is a hardship for you, Please let Mrs Stepan know.)
CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In the U.S., 15,780 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year.The objective of Childhood CancerAwareness Month is to put a spotlight on the types of cancer that largely affect children, survivorship issues, and – importantly – to help raise funds for research and family support. Student Leadership would like to continue our efforts of support by promoting a PJAmmin for kids with Cancer day. We will be preselling pajama tickets the week of powderpuff before and after school. Students who have a ticket will be allowed to wear appropriate pajamas the day of Powderpuff. During halftime of the game, all students who are dressed in pajamas will take a picture with Mrs. Long to send to the Children’s Hospital. Tickets will be $1.00 each.
HOMECOMING Class sponsors and students, don’t forget tomorrow from 9-12 is hall decorating for Homecoming week. Please come and help us make the school spirit ready. Monday is the beginning of spirit week. Monday’s day is Neon day. Hope to see you in your bright colors.
