Within this newsletter, you will find much important information. Please read it thoroughly, and do not hesitate to contact our office (719-948-3351) with any questions!
Mr. Brian J. Dilka, Principal
Every student at PCH will be issued a NEW Mac Book Air computer for school and home use for 2017-18.
Since we have new machines, this process will be held AFTER we return to school. All students must be accompanied by a parent to checkout their computer.
Parents will be notified of meeting dates via School Messenger.
Specific meeting dates will be established for each grade. A parent meeting will precede the computer checkout process. A $50 insurance fee must be paid at time of pick up. Adjustments will be made for those qualifying for free/reduced lunch.
This meeting is for all students and parents. The meeting will include computer orientation and paperwork necessary for checkout. It will also include important senior year dates, graduation information, and general school information.

Odds & Ends…
School Pictures: ALL STUDENTS MUST TAKE A PICTURE FOR STUDENT ID CARDS. Pictures will be taken during school on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Please have your student dress appropriately for the picture. Picture order forms will be provided to students. Extra forms will be available in the school office.
Online Information Packets: Please be sure to fill out your student’s online information packet by accessing the update from your Powerschool parent portal. This helps us keep your contact information up to date. This greatly helps us to establish a positive line of communication, as well as updated emergency contact information. If you do not know your Powerschool log in, please call Mrs. Provost at 719-948-3351 and press option #4. Please try to complete this task prior to your computer check out night, as this will expedite the process.
Freshman Orientation: 9th grade students are expected to attend Freshman Orientation Day on Thursday, August 10, 2017. We have a day full of activities scheduled to help 9th graders familiarize themselves with our school and campus. It will begin at 7:30 am and conclude at 3:30 pm. Buses will run. Please check the District 70 website for bus routes.
Class Schedules: 9th grade students will receive a hard copy of their schedule on Freshman Orientation Day. All other students will need to access their schedules via Powerschool. If a student has an issue with their schedule, they will need to sign up to meet with their counselor in the counseling office. Class schedules were made based on needs and preferences indicated during registration last spring.
New Lunch Prices: Lunch prices have increased by $0.10 for the 2017-18 school year. Lunches are now priced at $2.50 per meal.
PCHS Wellness Center: All District 70 students (K-12) are welcome to use the Wellness Center. Parents are asked to complete a consent form prior to students being seen by Wellness Center staff. Please call the Wellness Center, at 719-544-7247, after August 1, 2017 to inquire about fees, consent forms or other questions. Additionally, the Wellness Center can provide sports physicals. Call for an appointment.
Daily Attendance: Daily attendance is incredibly important to your student’s academic success, safety, and wellness. The expectation is that all students attend all classes regularly. Students are to remain on campus at all times, including lunch. If a student is to leave campus, their parent must call the office PRIOR to that student leaving campus. Students MUST sign in and sign out in the office when leaving early or arriving late. It is also important that parents call the office within 24 hours to excuse an absence or tardy. If parents do not call, it may be assumed that your student is truant. Parental cooperation in this area is greatly appreciated.
Fines: ALL fines must be paid prior to computer checkout. Prior to your designated checkout date, fines may be paid in the Activities Office to Mrs. Greenhood.
Activity Passes: Activity passes are available for students and parents to purchase in the Athletic Office with Mrs. Greenhood. Student passes cost $35.00, and will greatly reduce the amount a Pueblo County High School student must pay to access the home athletic activities for the 2017-18 school year. Adults may purchase an Activity Punch Pass that gains them access to 10 home athletic activities for $40.00. With a Booster Club membership fee of $10.00 for the 2017-18 school year you will be able to purchase an Activity Punch Card for $40.00 and receive another one for free. This year, we will also offer a Senior Citizen Pass (62+) good for home contests all year long for $35. Family Passes are also available for $100, and will get 2 adults and 3 children in to 10 contests. Activity Passes are good for all PCHS home contests, as well as home contests at Runyon Field and Pueblo Plaza Ice Arena. Post-season playoffs are not included.
